Donald Trump’s son Eric used a speech at the Republican Convention to attack the Democrats and Joe Biden.
Appealing to the president’s base, Mr Trump listed tax cuts, a pre-pandemic economic boom, and declared his father had achieved “Peace in the Middle East” while “never-ending wars were finally ended”. In fact, the US still has troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Adapting a campaign slogan, he said: “Promises made, and promises, for the first time, were kept”.
Like his sister’s, Mr Trump’s speech attacked “cancel culture” wars, claiming Democrats wanted to “destroy the monuments of our forefathers and disrespect the flag”.
“They want to disrespect our national anthem by taking a knee, while our armed forces lay down their lives every day to protect our freedom,” he said.
Mr Trump, who has been tasked with running the family business during his father’s presidency, ended with a more personal note and acknowledged the recent death of his uncle, Robert Trump.
“In closing, I’d like to speak directly to my father,” he said. “I miss working alongside you every day but I’m damn proud to be on the front lines of this fight. I am proud of what you are doing for this country.
“Dad, let’s make Uncle Robert proud. Let’s go get another four years.”

Joe Biden is an American politician serving as the 46th and current president of the United States. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 47th vice president from 2009 to 2017 under Barack Obama and represented Delaware in the United States Senate from 1973 to 2009.
