Turkey’s president says his country’s borders will remain open for Syrian refugees and migrants seeking to start new lives in Europe.
On Saturday, thousands attempted to cross into Greece after Turkish soldiers guarding their side of the border were ordered to retreat.
Turkish President Erdogan’s message is clear: He wants NATO on the battlefield in Idlib and he wants Europe to help with the Syrian refugee crisis.
Al Jazeera’s Natasha Ghoneim reports from Edirne, near the Turkey-Greece border.
