    British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Monday that England. will keep coronavirus restrictions in place until July 19, as it continues to battle rising infections due to the Delta variant first identified in India.

    In an update on Britain’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, Johnson said he does not expect the delay of the plan to ease restrictions in England will pass that date.

    Johnson also said England is still on track to meet its goal of vaccinating two-thirds of adults by July 19.

    The Delta variant is estimated to be at least 60 per cent more contagious than the previous dominant variant.
