Emotional moment in Ukraine: Moment Ukrainian woman reunites with sister since war began

Daily Mail published this video item, entitled “Emotional moment in Ukraine: Moment Ukrainian woman reunites with sister since war began” – below is their description.

Emotional moment in Ukraine: Vladyslava Liubarets reunited with her sister after the pair were separated at the start of Russia’s invasion. They shared an emotional embrace (right) in devastated Bucha yesterday. The brief moment of reprieve is one marred by the distressing accounts emerging from Bucha in the wake of the Russian troops’ withdrawal. Ms Liubarets passed by damaged Russian military equipment in the town (left), northwest of Kyiv, which has been retaken by Ukraine’s army. The horrific images and stories tumbling out of such Ukrainian towns bear witness to depravity on a scale recalling the barbarities of Cambodia, the Balkans, and World War II. Ukrainian officials are currently gathering evidence of Russian atrocities in Bucha and other cities, amid signs Moscow’s troops killed people indiscriminately before retreating.

The Balkans , also known as the Balkan Peninsula, is a geographic area in southeastern Europe. The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains that stretch throughout the whole of Bulgaria from the Serbian–Bulgarian border to the Black Sea coast. The Balkan Peninsula is bordered by the Adriatic Sea in the northwest, the Ionian Sea in the southwest, the Aegean Sea in the south, the Turkish Straits in the east, and the Black Sea in the northeast. The term has acquired a stigmatized and pejorative meaning related to the process of Balkanization, and hence the preferred alternative term used for the region is Southeast Europe.

Entirely within the Balkan Peninsula: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia.

Mostly or partially within the Balkan Peninsula: Croatia, Greece, Italy, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey.
