Thomas Georg John Tugendhat MBE VR is a British Conservative Party politician serving as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee since 2017. He has been the Member of Parliament for Tonbridge and Malling since 2015.

An Arabic speaker, Tugendhat served in the British Army’s Intelligence Corps for several years, during wars with Iraq and Afghanistan.

I have been a student of Oratory for nearly half a century….this was one of the finest speeches ever delivered in Parliament – forget party political allegiance, this was a speech for all, irrespective of which side of the House you sit or support…this was a speech that spoke for humanity and delivered by a warrior, one best qualified to speak of the horrors of war.
