Elephants in Santa Claus costumes paraded at a Christmas event in Thailand’s Ayutthaya. The giant creatures delivered presents to children. The NGO People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals criticised the event. “If we want to spread the Christmas spirit, the best thing that we can do is to leave animals out of performances like this one and use people instead,” said PETA’s Asia Director of Animal Assistance Programs, Ashley Fruno.
