    Boris Johnson has said the Conservatives’ Hartlepool by-election victory is a “mandate to continue to deliver”.

    Speaking from the town, he thanked voters “for placing their confidence in us”. “One of the lessons of this whole election campaign,. is that the public want politicians to get on and focus on their needs and their priorities.

    He also spoke about the “massive project” of levelling up the UK and providing more job opportunites for all.
