The children of an extended family which had gathered to celebrate Eid were victims of the latest Israeli air strikes in Gaza. Eight young cousins died in the attack.
Israel also destroyed a building in Gaza that housed international media. It followed rocket attacks by Hamas militants in which one man was killed in Tel Aviv.
The US President Joe Biden has expressed his “grave concern” about the violence to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and urged both sides to end the violence.
