FRANCE 24 English published this video item, entitled “Egypt marks 10 years since uprising, over 30% of population struggles to survive: F24 special report” – below is their description.
Egypt marks the 10th anniversary of the start of anti-government protests on Monday, which finally pushed out then-President Hosni Mubarak. But from ousting him, to giving Mohammed Morsi’s Islamic party the majority and gradually falling into Abdel Fatah el-Sisi’s iron fist, the economy also collapsed. Even though the revolution’s slogan was “Bread, Freedom & social justice”, 30% of Egyptians now live below the poverty line, as FRANCE 24’s Edouard Dropsy and Claire Williot report from Cairo.
