South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Eerie frozen Russian ghost town captured in images showing winter’s grip” – below is their description.
Near the coal-mining town of Vorkuta in Russia’s northwestern Komi Republic, where winter temperatures can fall to as low as minus 50 degrees Celsius (-58°F), snow has covered abandoned buildings and vehicles in the Sementnozavodsky region. Drone footage shot on March 1, 2021, offered a bird’s-eye view of the eerie ghost town, one of several that have fallen into ruin around the once-thriving community.
