Ecuador’s president has declared an emergency in the country’s prisons after fighting among rival gangs. At least 22 people are dead and 80 others injured.

It is the third time deadly riots have erupted in Ecuador’s overcrowded jails over the past six months.

Al Jazeera’s Heidi Zhou-Castro reports.
