South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Early season heatwave in India’s capital New Delhi sparks fear of ‘new normal'” – below is their description.
An unusually early heatwave brought extreme temperatures to a large swathe of India’s northwest on April 11, 2022, raising concerns that such weather conditions could become the new normal. The summer months are always hot in most parts of India before the monsoon season brings cooler temperatures, but heatwaves have arrived earlier and grown more intense over the past decade, causing hundreds of heat-related deaths and water shortages each year. A heatwave is declared when the temperature hits 4.5 degrees Celsius (8°F) above average.
