China-U.S. relations are strained over the origin of the coronavirus. U.S. President Donald Trump referred to it as the “China virus” despite WHO guidelines against labelling viruses after geographic locations. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the coronavirus originated in a research laboratory in Wuhan but later admitted to lacking evidence to back up his claim. Though there have been reports from different countries tracing cases before the virus officially reached their borders, whether these cases can survive scientific scrutiny is another question. Earlier, Tian Wei talked to Michael Melham, the mayor of Belleville, New Jersey. Melham’s antibody tests came back positive, indicating he could’ve been infected in November last year. What does this mean for efforts against COVID-19?
