British and Hollywood royalty were on the red carpet in Leicester Square for the fundraising premiere of Top Gun: Maverick.

The action star reprised his role as hotshot US fighter pilot Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell for the eagerly awaited sequel to the 1986 movie.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined the 59-year-old who arrived on the red carpet in Leicester Square for the premiere, which is taking place as a royal film performance.
