Daily Mail published this video item, entitled “Drug lords of Instagram exposed: Undercover Daily Mail reporter poses as client for dealer” – below is their description.
EXCLUSIVE: Hundreds of drug dealers are using Instagram to peddle potent cannabis to children in a billion-pound industry, a Daily Mail investigation has found. The problem on the Facebook-owned site has mushroomed in lockdown, leading to fears of the drug causing a ‘psychosis timebomb’.A drug baron who bragged about kidnapping and chopping off the fingers of a client is among the dealers using the social media site to earn themselves millions of pounds a year, our undercover reporters found. Dealers, some with almost 30,000 followers, promote their wares with enticing pictures of cannabis packaged as children’s sweets and then arrange sales via private messaging services.

In this video, which was also the Daily Mail newspaper front cover story in the UK on Monday 25 October 2021, we learn how a “drug baron nicknamed The Devil sells high strength cannabis worth millions of pounds to dealers across the UK by advertising on Instagram.”
In the video, the alleged dealer describes how he beat someone for non-payment, as well as explaining how he uses Instagram as a form of advertising.
The angle used in this video, and in the newspaper coverage, have highlighted Instagram’s role in these alleged crimes, however, as described in the video, the police and criminal justice system in Britain may be lacking, if people are able to advertise illegal drugs in public without repercussion.
What do you think? Is it Facebook and Instagram’s fault; or should the police and criminal justice system do more to catch drug dealers who are blatantly showing off on social media? Leave your thoughts in the comments section, below. Please note comments are moderated before publication.
