Drones Used to Disinfect Public Areas in Cannes, France

A drone was used to disinfect a public area in Cannes, France, on April 10 as part of an experimental project to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, local media reported.

The City of Cannes said the drone was dispensing a disinfectant solution of sodium hypochlorite highly diluted in water. It was the first time the system was used in a French city during the pandemic, according to local reports.

“The product is harmless to humans, animals and the environment, as it evaporates very quickly,” it said. “This experiment is supervised by a council of virological and environmental experts.”

In this video, the drone can be seen hovering over a parking lot as it dispenses the disinfecting solution.
