The theory that Covid-19 originated from a Wuhan laboratory leak was discussed by G7 world leaders in a sign that the hypothesis is increasingly being taken seriously.

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), confirmed that the theory was raised during a formal session at the G7 summit in Cornwall dedicated to health matters.

Dominic Raab, UK Foreign Secretary, told reporters that with the current evidence, on balance the UK Government believes that Covid-19 is more likely to have jumped from animals to humans instead of being leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan.
