Full coverage of the Dominic Cummings Rose Garden statement at the back of Number 10 Downing Street, UK:
The Prime Minister’s chief adviser Dominic Cummings has made a statement saying he believed he made the right judgement when he made a trip from London to Durham during lockdown.
Speaking in the rose garden of 10 Downing Street, he said he thought the rules allowed him to exercise his judgement in the situation he found himself in.
He added: “I don’t regret what I did.”
Mr Cummings travelled from London to County Durham with his family when his wife developed coronavirus symptoms.
Boris Johnson said Mr Cummings acted within the guidelines, but some Conservative backbenchers and opposition MPs have called for the adviser to stand down or be sacked.
