Five-Year Plans are a series of social and economic development initiatives issued by China since 1953. The first Five-Year Plan aimed to build China’s own socialist industrial system. The plan saw the industrial output grow from 34.3 billion yuan in 1953 to 78.3 billion yuan in 1957. China produced its first ever car since the founding of the #PRC, its first jet aircraft, and the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge.
