When an Aussie doctor learnt that Australia’s High Commissioner to the UK, George Brandis, returned home to Australia for Christmas and has spent several weeks holidaying in Queensland, she was left speechless. Phoebe Mackenzie, an ophthalmologist, moved to the UK in January 2020 along with her husband and two young sons for her 14th and final year of medical training. Now they, along with thousands of other Australians, find themselves stranded overseas during the pandemic because of quarantine caps and limited seats on flights.
