Denmark soccer officials describe situation on pitch after Christian Eriksen’s collapse, reaction from team

Officials with the Danish soccer team described the situation on the pitch Saturday, after midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed during a match against Finland during the European Championship.

Eriksen collapsed near the end of the first half of the match. Medical staff attended to him as his team stood around him, creating a shield for privacy.

The UEFA later said Eriksen had been transferred to hospital and had been stabilized.

Danish Coach Kasper Hjulmand described Eriksen as “one of our best players” and praised the team for trying to continue the game.
