In recent months, countries around the world have been ramping up efforts to vaccinate their populations against Coronavirus.
But even nations which are getting loads of doses into arms are grappling with the more transmissible Delta strain. It can have severe effects.
Delta is four to five times more likely to land you in hospital, compared to other strains.
First detected in India, it was responsible for the worst outbreak of the pandemic, as the country recorded more than 400 000 cases a day.
It’s spread fast – including to other parts of Asia and the Pacific. Indonesia is now the region’s COVID epicentre.
And closer to home, it’s plunged Fiji into crisis.
The Pacific nation now has the highest number of infections per capita, anywhere in the world.
