The US Senate has voted to confirm Deb Haaland as the country’s new interior secretary, the first Native American cabinet secretary in the nation’s history.

Haaland was also among the first two Native American women to be elected to Congress in 2018.

Her confirmation vote Monday was 51 to 40, mostly along party lines.
