Daunte Wright shooting: Protesters throw bricks, other items at police as unrest continues

Global News published this video item, entitled “Daunte Wright shooting: Protesters throw bricks, other items at police as unrest continues” – below is their description.

Unrest over the Daunte Wright shooting death continued on Tuesday night, with protesters throwing bricks, cans and other items at police as they attempted to disperse crowds who had gathered.

The demonstrations came hours after Mayor Mike Elliott announced both the police chief and the officer accused of shooting Wright had resigned. According to reports, a decision on whether the officer will face charges could be announced on Wednesday.

Minnesota State Patrol early Wednesday morning urged people to continue exercising their right to protest, but asked for any criminal activity to cease as it could also endanger those seeking to peacefully demonstrate.

Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon described the shooting death Sunday of 20-year-old Black man Daunte Wright as “an accidental discharge.” The shooting sparked protests and unrest in an area already on edge because of the trial of the first of four police officers charged in George Floyd’s death.
