A council in Darwin’s rural area has had a full dog pound in the first few weeks of the new year, with double the usual amount of stray dogs taken in off the streets. Re-homing organisations haven’t been able to accept the overflow because they’ve been at capacity as well, with a spate of pets abandoned over the festive season.
