Their joint mission (UNAMID) to protect displaced people ended on New Year’s Eve.
This is causing unease among the thousands who have lived in displacement camps for years.
Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan reports from outside a camp in Nyala, in South Darfur.

Sudan is a member of the United Nations, the Arab League, African Union, COMESA, Non-Aligned Movement and the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation.

At its founding, the UN had 51 member states; with the addition of South Sudan in 2011, membership is now 193, representing almost all of the world’s sovereign states.
