Daniel Prude protests: Demonstrators gather in Rochester in 5th straight night

Global News published this video item, entitled “Daniel Prude protests: Demonstrators gather in Rochester in 5th straight night” – below is their description.

More than 1,000 protesters gathered in Rochester, N.Y. on Sunday in the fifth night of protests over the death of Daniel Prude, a 41-year-old Black man who died in March after police placed a hood – ostensibly called a “spit hood” – over the man’s head and held his head to the ground for two minutes. Prude died several days after his arrest, video of which was released last week. The night’s protests came on the heels of Rochester Police Chief La’Ron Singletary and Mayor Lovely Warren vowing to help the city heal and make necessary changes. Some protesters marched with makeshift riot gear – helmets, wooden shields and leaf blowers – to counter police, however it appeared having community elders in front helped to prevent a dispersal of police munitions.
