Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Cuba marks 69th anniversary of revolution’s start” – below is their description.
Cuba has been marking 69 years since the start of a Communist uprising, which eventually led to Fidel Castro seizing power.
In 1953, more than 100 revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro stormed a major military barracks – leading to the fall of US-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista.
But it is a bittersweet anniversary for most Cubans, as the nation faces its worst economic crisis in three decades.
Al Jazeera’s Lucia Newman reports.
