Criticism grows over Alabama law targeting drug use in pregnancy

In the US state of Alabama a controversial law designed to protect babies from dangerous drugs is under scrutiny after authorities began arresting mothers in large numbers.

The Chemical Endangerment laws were originally designed to protect infants from methamphetamine labs but are now being used to prosecute mothers who, in some cases, took prescribed drugs whilst pregnant
