South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Crafting floral jelly cakes with former Malaysian architect turned 3D dessert artist” – below is their description.
Malaysian-born Siamy Tan got hooked on 3D jelly cake design in May 2022, when she attended her first class on the traditional art of jelly cake making in her hometown of Penang. Using just agar-agar powder, natural food colouring and specialised syringe needles, Tan quickly mastered the art of crafting realistic looking flower bouquets using jelly cake as the canvas. The qualified architect then began offering classes through a Malaysian Facebook group, and her cakes have since grown a following on Instagram. Tan shows the Post’s Regina de Luna how she creates lifelike blooms, one petal at a time.
