We have the vaccines now, but the big question is who gets them? Experts tell us nobody is safe until everyone is safe, yet rich countries are scrambling over limited supplies, while less affluent nations are left out in the cold. Several international organizations have been working to fix this inequality, and one of them is CEPI, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations. Together with the WHO and the Gavi vaccine alliance, they aim to inoculate 20 percent of the poor countries’ populations through the Covax platform. So far, 2 billion doses have been secured, and delivery is expected to take place soon. For more on that progress, Tian Wei had the chance to talk to Richard Hatchett who is the CEPI CEO.
