If we are indeed on the brink of a second wave, one of the great fears will be a repeat of the failings that allowed the virus to sweep through care homes. The government thinks it has a plan that will protect them this winter. It includes free protective equipment and more funding. Causing equal anxiety for residents, though, is the threat of another ban on visitors should the virus take hold again.
