Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “COVID stressors add to rising US gun violence” – below is their description.
Over the past week, major cities in the United States have reported a wave of shootings and a 30 percent in gun violence as coronavirus lockdowns ease.
Mental health experts blame COVID-19-induced anxiety, unemployment and a decreased police presence in the streets.
Analysts also say that three million more firearms were sold last year compared with previous years, perhaps driven by fears over race riots following the death of a Black man, George Floyd.
Al Jazeera’s Andy Gallacher reports from Miami, the US.
