Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Paul Kelly has revealed that the next fortnight will be critical for health authorities to understand the effects of the Omicron COVID-19 variant on our population.

“We cannot keep this Omicron variant out forever from Australia. Eventually it will be here. Most importantly now, we do what we can to slow-down the introduction. And all of the measures that have been introduced will assist with that” – Chief Medical Officer, Professor Paul Kelly speaking at a media conference in Canberra with Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt and Minister for Home Affairs Karen Andrews.
