New South Wales has officially begun its COVID-19 vaccine rollout program, focused at 3 hub hospitals, with the first shot administered just after 8am at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to a hotel quarantine worker.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian says she is waiting for the AstraZeneca vaccine to arrive before receiving her own dose, which is not expected to start its rollout until next month.
‘As soon as my turn is here with the AstraZeneca, I will definitely be taking it. As you know the first three weeks, we will be using Pfizer vaccine. Most of us in New South Wales be offered the AstraZeneca vaccine and for that reason I will get the AstraZeneca as soon as it is available to demonstrate that both vaccines are as good as each other, they are as effective as each other. I am looking forward to having the overwhelming majority of our citizens getting the vaccine in the next few months. That is really, really critical,” – Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
In the first three weeks, 35,100 frontline workers will receive their first vaccination, followed by a second vaccination three weeks later.
