COVID-19 vaccines and humanitarian supplies from AUSMAT are being flown from Queensland to Papua New Guinea to help contain the spread of the disease.
It’s feared one-in-three residents on the island nation has been infected – 295 cases were recorded yesterday.
“This is really serious. I’m very proud to be an Australian, and to see the Australian Government responding so well as a whole of government. Papua New Guinea is a resourceful country, but it has a fragile healthy system” – Dr Mark Little Australian – Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT).
