Global News published this video item, entitled “COVID-19: UK PM Johnson, France PM Castex receive AstraZeneca vaccine doses” – below is their description.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French Prime Minister Jean Castex each received their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, with Johnson urging others to do the same.
Both Johnson and Castex, following their dose, said they didn’t feel a thing from the shot with Castex praising the health official who delivered his dose because he was usually “a bit sensitive” to injections.
Johnson gave two thumbs up in photos released by No. 10 Downing Street of him receiving the vaccine, with Castex also giving a thumbs up on camera. The French prime minister also joked that unlike Health Minister Olivier Veran, who partially removed his shirt when he received his vaccine, Castex said there may be disappointment that he would not be doing the same.
The U.K. had not suspended use of the AstraZeneca vaccine earlier this month amid concerns over reports of blood disorders, which had not emerged during human trials, but France and more than a dozen other nations had temporarily done so. France approved the restart of the vaccinations on Friday, though it advised it only be given to people aged 55 and older.
