Vulnerable youths are being dressed up as key workers by drugs gangs to evade detection from the police during the coronavirus lockdown.
The business model of County Lines gangs has adapted to the pandemic: young people used as drug mules now carry drugs from cities to rural areas using hire cars instead of trains, and deals are made in hospital and supermarket car parks.
Even so, officers claim to have reduced the capacity of these gangs by 10% and increased the number of arrests by 50% since the lockdown began.
