The coronavirus has reached Antarctica, the world’s last continent on Earth that had previously been free of Covid-19. At least 36 cases were confirmed at the Bernardo O’Higgins base, including 26 army personnel and 10 civilian contractors conducting maintenance at the base, officials from Chile’s armed forces said on December 21, 2020.
