Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “COVID-19 curbs threaten Zimbabwe’s trophy hunting industry” – below is their description.
Big game trophy hunting is a controversial but lucrative business in parts of Africa.
Before the COVID pandemic, many tourists would come to Zimbabwe to hunt big game and take back stuffed animals and trophies as souvenirs.
But hunters have not been able to travel for the past year, due to restrictions, and that has had a massive impact on the industry.
Taxidermists and tanneries in Zimbabwe are struggling to stay in business.
Al Jazeera’s Haru Mutasa reports from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
