Court rules IS schoolgirl Shamima Begum can return to UK to appeal loss of citizenship – BBC News

The Court of Appeal has ruled that one of three schoolgirls who left London to join Islamic State fighters in Syria must be allowed to return to the UK — to challenge the decision to strip her of her British citizenship.

Lawyers for Shamima Begum successfully argued that she must be allowed to come to the UK to appeal the decision in person.

Shamima Begum, who’s now 20, has been unable to leave Syria after her British citizenship was revoked last year.
