ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Counting the cost of the floods | 7.30” – below is their description.

The damage bill from the devastating floods across New South Wales and South East Queensland has already hit $350 million.

More than 22,000 insurance claims have been lodged so far, but many homeowners are facing big out-of-pocket bills because they didn’t take out flood cover.

In some parts of the country, extreme weather events have sent insurance premiums soaring.

Nick Hose and Angelique Donnellan compiled this report.
