Councils gain powers to impose local lockdowns – UK COVID-19 update

Local authorities have gained legal powers to impose lockdowns if they see a spike in infections.

They have welcomed the provision of data from the government, but some are calling for it be updated daily instead of weekly.

The qualify of information could be even more detailed, with patient names provided instead of general postcodes to allow councils to track cases more closely.
