A group of Russian pilgrims have made a 4,000km journey to a remote town in Kyrgyzstan to reconnect with their roots.
The northern community was settled by Russian Cossacks in the 19th century in what was then the eastern most outpost of the Russian empire.
Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford has been speaking to descendants of the settlers at a religious ceremony in Ak Suu, Kyrgyzstan.
