Coronavirus: Why Vietnam is not needing to socially distance amid pandemic | ITV News

One of those south east Asian countries that has succesfully used track and trace is Vietnam.

All the conditions for a serious coronavirus epidemic were there – not least a nine hundred mile land border with China, regularly criss-crossed for trade and travel.

And yet, according to government statisitics, they have had no deaths and only 271 cases.

So how have they done it? There was certainly a quick clampdown on movement.

But because of the lessons of SARS they also had a system of checking in place. It included an App – but crucially in the first instance, it was down to community workers on the
