Global News published this video item, entitled “Coronavirus: WHO aims for 2 billion doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of 2021 | FULL” – below is their description.

World Health Organization director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during the organization’s COVID-19 briefing on Monday that they’re aiming for 2 billion doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of next year. Tedros added that almost 200 vaccine candidates are currently under different phases of testing, but there is no guarantee a single vaccine will work. With the United Nations General Assembly meeting Monday virtually for the first time in 75 years, Tedros sent a message to the world’s nations. He called on them to ensure equitable access to COVDID-19 diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines, and to start preparing for the next pandemic from now. WHO’s emergencies program executive director Dr. Mike Ryan said that the organization’s position on COVID-19 transmission hasn’t changed, after the Centre of Disease Control (CDC) posted advice saying the novel coronavirus spreads through the air and travels beyond six feet. Later during the briefing, the CDC removed its guidance and Ryan said WHO will be following up with them. Globally, cases surpassed 31 million and deaths passed 962,000. Over 21 million people around the world have recovered from COVID-19.
