Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to hold a COVID-19 briefing in Ottawa on Friday to discuss the ongoing government response to the pandemic, along with vaccine rollout.
This comes as Canada approved the Oxford–AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine on Friday, making it the third shot officially authorized in the country.
Trudeau will be joined by Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc, Health Minister Patty Hajdu, Public Services and Procurement Minister Anita Anand, chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam, and deputy chief public health officer Dr. Howard Njoo.
Officials said earlier this week that more than 240,000 doses had been injected last week, the highest weekly total in more than a month. Canada’s 10 provinces and three northern territories administer the vaccines.
