Coronavirus: Scientists trial stem cell treatment

Scientists from the United Arab Emirates have developed a potential treatment for COVID-19 using stem cells.

The procedure works by extracting stem cells from a patient’s blood and reintroducing them in an “activated” state to the lungs to repair damage. 

Sky News’ Adam Boulton speaks to Dr Fatima al-Kaabi, a haematologist from the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell research team, about the treatment, which is now at clinical trial stage.
