Quebec Health Minister Christian Dube and public health director Dr. Horacio Arruda are providing an update on COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, the province reported its first case of the COVID-19 variant that was first detected in the United Kingdom earlier this month. According to a statement, the person was “in contact with a member of their family who returned to Quebec on Dec. 11, after a stay in the United Kingdom, and who tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 13.”
The province also reported 2,381 new cases of COVID-19 and 64 additional deaths linked to the second wave of the pandemic Tuesday. Hospitalizations also rose by seven to 1,131, of which 148 are in intensive care.
