Global News published this video item, entitled “Coronavirus: Manitoba’s top doctor says 1 in every 48 COVID-19 cases on average ends in death” – below is their description.
Manitoba’s chief medical officer Dr. Brent Roussin on Friday gave a stark message to people in the province as cases continue to surpass 300, saying in a briefing that on average one in every 48 cases of COVID-19 ends in death.
Elaborating on that number, he explained that for every 48 cases, three people would be hospitalized and one person would die so “every time we announce 480 cases, we’re going to see 30 people hospitalized as a result and 10 people will die as a result.”
Roussin also went on to speak about new COVID-19 projections, saying the province’s current restrictions put them in the lower end of the “extreme” projected range of numbers. According to Roussin, the worst-case or “extreme” scenario would have between 419 and 1,055 new daily cases by Dec. 6.
